Description

CCSME Info

This five-week online course will draw upon current knowledge and experience in the field of clinical supervision to provide training for individuals who provide clinical supervision to individuals providing alcohol and drug counseling services, as well as to other clinical supervisors providing behavioral health counseling services. The course on clinical supervision will cover content related to professional ethics and supervision and apply them to issues that clinical supervisors are likely to face in their work with supervisees. The clinical issues that clients may have related to co-occurring issues of drug, alcohol, and mental health symptoms and conditions will be discussed as it relates to the scope of practice for alcohol and drug counselors and counseling aids and other clinicians within their respective licenses and/or certifications.

Some of the issues addressed in this course include ethics and scope of practice, boundary issues in the supervisory relationship, confidentiality, vicarious liability, ethical/legal decision making, competing values, psychotherapy vs. sound clinical supervision, counselor development, and ethical and respectful exploration of clinician counter-transference issues.
